Abstract
Theoretical study of optical scattering shows that transparent layers deposited on a rough surface can possess an antiscattering effect. Experiment confirms these predictions in the case of titanium oxide, but the deposition conditions must be exceptionally stable. This leads to a method of studying the effects of discontinuities during the evaporation of this material.
