Abstract
The scattering of electromagnetic waves by a dielectric structure that fills a slit aperture in a conducting screen is considered. The cavity consists of two zones of different materials separated by an arbitrarily shaped interface. A rigorous -matrix multilayer modal method is applied, which gives numerical stability even for deep structures. Examples of the numerical results obtained are shown and discussed for both fundamental cases of polarization.
