Abstract
A recent study of the influence of the Goos–Hänchen shift on the imaging properties of planar optical systems is commented on. It is shown that the model chosen for a description of the Goos–Hänchen shift must be modified considerably and that there is one more shift in total reflection that will also influence the imaging quality.
